WHAT IS THE NTUC SURROGATE EMPLOYER PROGRAMME (NTUC-SEP)? |
|
| |
|
|
| |
| A programme to help union members who take their own responsibility to upgrade their skills without the support of their employers. |
| |
| By acting as a Surrogate Employer, NTUC assists employed union members to secure training assistance from the Skills Development Fund (SDF). In addition, all union members, both employed and unemployed, are eligible for training awards from the NTUC Education & Training Fund (N-ETF). |

WHO QUALIFY FOR NTUC-SEP? |
|
| |
|
|
| |
| To be eligible for both SDF course fee funding and N-ETF training awards , union members must meet the following conditions: |
| |
| 1. |
Be Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident; |
| 2. |
Be gainfully employed; |
| 3. |
Have at least 6 months (3 months for lower income earners) of continuous paid-up union membership as at course commencement date; |
| 4. |
Maintain union membership throughout the entire duration of the course; |
| 5. |
Be not more than 65 years of age as at course start date; and |
| 6. |
Achieved 75% attendance and sat for all prescribed examinations. |

| ** All union members, regardless of employment status and nationality, are eligible for the N-ETF training awards. |

WHAT ARE THE FUNDING ASSISTANCES FOR NTUC-SEP SUPPORTED TRAINEES? |

WHAT ARE THE COURSES UNDER NTUC-SEP? |
|

| |
| There are more than 600 certifiable courses from approximately 80 approved training institutions supported under the NTUC-SEP. A wide range of courses such as precision engineering, childcare, security, tourism and travel, computer/IT, finance and business etc are available. |
|

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION |
|
| |
|
|
| |
| The NTUC-SEP application form, together with all supporting documents, must be submitted at least 30 days before the course start date so as to allow processing time for the SDF funding application and approval. |
| |
| The form can be downloaded from www.ntuc.org.sg/careertraining/funding_scheme.asp. You may also collect the form from our NTUC Customer Service Centre (NTUC Centre, Basement 1, No. 1 Marina Boulevard, One Marina Boulevard). |

ENHANCEMENTS FOR LOWER INCOME UNION MEMBERS |
|

|
|
| |
As part of NTUC's efforts to promote training and skills upgrading among workers, especially the lower income group who have traditionally fewer training opportunities, the NTUC Surrogate Employer Programme (NTUC-SEP) will be enhanced to reward these lower income workers who have taken their own initiatives to attend training for certifiable courses. |

WHO are the Lower Income Union Members? |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Union members who fall under any one of the following categories will be considered as a low income earner: |
|
| |
|
|
| |
• |
Earn a monthly gross salary of S$1,500 and below; |
|
| |
|
|
| |
• |
Earn a monthly basic salary of S$1,200 and below; |
|
| |
|
|
| |
• |
Earn an hourly basic salary of S$6.80 and below; or |
|
| |
|
|
| |
• |
Earn not more than S$450 per capita household income |
|
| |
|
(Total Gross Household Income ÷ No. of Family Members Staying In The House) |

|
|
| |
WHAT are the enhancements? |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Besides the SDF training assistance and N-ETF training awards, all lower income union members are also eligible for additional training allowance of S$5 per hour, based on the actual number of course hours attended . |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Lower income union members only need to have at least 3 months (instead of the usual 6 months) of continuous paid-up union membership prior to course commencement date in order to be eligible for NTUC-SEP. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
WHEN will it take place? |
|
| |
|
|
| |
The enhanced NTUC-SEP will take effect for all new applications received on or after 1 January 2007, for courses commencing on or after 1 January 2007 . The enhancements will be applicable to all NTUC-SEP supported courses. Members can apply for the training allowance through the NTUC-SEP application form directly. |
